Sub contractors working under the construction industry scheme are required to submit a tax return each year to declare their earnings and expenses to HMRC. We can take the hassle out of this annual burden and ensure you are claiming as much of a tax relief as possible.
The January 31st deadline is soon and your tax return for the period ending 5th of April 2022 will need to be submitted prior to 31st of January 2023. If you miss this deadline HMRC can issue you late filing and late payment penalties.

CIS Sub contractors are entitled to claim tax relief on any expenses associated with their work, this means you can effectively claim back any costs incurred for work including but not limited to car and travel costs, food and drink, tools and equipment, PPE, lodging, Phone bills, insurances, training costs and much more. When calculating your refund we will double check all claimed expenses to ensure we are claiming as large a refund as possible.

firstly we will require to be registered as your tax agent with HMRC, we can do this via an electronically signed 64-8 form, alternatively if you already have your UTR number we can request HMRC to post you a security code instead.
We will also require your end if year income figures, tax deductions and expense information. All information relating to your pay and tax will be shown on your contractor statements, if you do not have these let us know as there are other ways to gather this information.

Contractor statements showing your pay and tax deductions are always useful, at the end of the year you should also receive an end of year contractor statement which shows your total income and tax figures for the tax year. These should run from 06/04/xxxx to 05/04/xxxx.
If you do not have these we may be able to use your bank statements or invoices instead so please get in touch if you have any worries about your documents.

Provided you already have your UTR number once we have all of your information and documents refunds should be paid between 2 to 4 weeks. If this is the first time you are completing your tax return or if you do not yet have your UTR number this may cause an additional delay of between 2 – 6 weeks.

We charge a flat £150 fee per tax year for CIS tax returns.
